clément.today

I am Clément Lambelet, an artist, teacher and researcher based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

I head the Master Photography at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne, where students work on experimental approaches, physical and digital, and on the overlap between commercial and artistic practice, with courses devoted to materialized photography (sculpture, photographic objects, installation). I also research the futures of photography, and since 2024 I have co-led Soft Photography, a research project on emotions and synthetic images (AI and CGI).

My own work combines photography with physical materials and processes such as copper, wood and laser engraving. It works with risk, failure and daily life, and tests how digital experience can take a physical form. I also make texts, videos, websites and sound works.

My work has been exhibited at Foam in Amsterdam, C/O Berlin and HeK Basel, among others, and is held in private and public collections, including Photo Elysée. I have published two monographs with RVB Books: Two Donkeys in a War Zone and Happiness Is the Only True Emotion.

I recently co-founded Sludge with Claus Gunti, an upcoming off-space in Lausanne that explores the relationship between photography and digital infrastructure.
